When asked about Neal Knobler’s digital photographs we let him give the best answer, in his words:
“Transformation is at the heart of what I do.
I find inspiration in everyday objects around me and I allow their shapes, textures, colors and forms to suggest to me what they want to become. A crack in cement can develop into an expansive landscape. A gleaming chrome faucet can evolve into a lush seascape or an intriguing nightscape. Using visual memories to interpret these sources, I mix representation and abstraction to create a mystery for the viewer.
What is the source of the image? And what is the final interpretation? The answers, for me, are both intellectual and emotional.”
Neal’s work is available for special order on many of his images. We do have a small number at Aarnun for you to view. They are printed on premium heavy matte paper using archival pigment inks.
